Neither it or its console port received a release outside of Japan. For Power Instinct on the Super Nintendo, GameFAQs has 3 FAQs (game guides and walkthroughs), 1 cheat, 1 review, and 8 user screenshots. Released in Japan as Gōketsuji Ichizoku (豪血寺一族), the first game of the series was released in 1993.

In the story chronology, however, it is the last entry in the series at the current time.

In relation to the name of the game, much of the music score within Groove On Fight are groove-style tunes. It is also known as Goketsuji Ichizoku 3: Groove On Fight.

It was the last game in the series that was fully developed by Atlus.

In it, players play as a member of the Gōketsuji clan, who are battling to determine who will replace 78-year-old Oume Gōketsuji as head of the clan. In part 3. a couple of the "transformable" characters have been separated from their counterparts and have a couple new moves too.
